'Dreamers of Skipton' is a family run business owned by myself, Maxine Barker, a former primary school teacher and mother of five. My daughter, Abby, works alongside me in the shop and also produces some of the stunning artwork on sale. The 'dream' of running an ethical gift shop became a reality in August 2006.
The 'ethics' is particularly important as it is the criteria by which all stock is sourced. We at Dreamers feel very strongly about Fair Trade and environmental issues and we want to provide a service to others who feel the same and to spread the word to those who don't!
Gift giving is an important part of life. It's true that we love to give a thoughtful present to someone we care about. At Dreamers we have gone a step further to ensure that the person who made your gift (and the environment) is rewarded too!! Shopping at Dreamers means you can really feel good about what you give.
The majority of the items we sell are sourced through suppliers who are registered with BAFTS (the British Association for Fair Trade shops). We are pleased to announce that 'Dreamers' has fulfilled the application criteria and has been accepted as a member of BAFTS.
Other products are sourced through suppliers who are committed to caring for the environment and produce goods which are eco-friendly. We also aim to promote local arts and crafts and stock a small but growing range of locally crafted items. Coming soon; locally handmade silver and beaded jewellery, also locally made stained glass items which are stunning.
FINALLY - Our range of products is always changing so it is worth visiting the shop or website often to see the wonderful new things we have found for you to give!
